While some publications have documented some highlights of this greatest of all high school competitions and recent state meet programs have listed the individual champions, a summary of the placing finalists has not been available to state track fans. On the following pages, an attempt has been made to summarize all the individual results of top placers in each event, as far as is known.
Because many of the official state records of the early years were lost in fire, the compilers have made extensive use of the "History of the C.
Despite this research, not all information has been obtained. Wind-aided marks will have a "w" following the mark.
California State Meet Results - to present
If the wind speed is known, then it will follow the "w". For example, a wind-aided mark of 3.
Since the earliest State Meets, athletes qualified by virtue of placing highly in their geographical Sectional meets. As population and the number of high schools increased dramatically, these three sections divided. In these summaries of results, schools are listed by the Section in which they are 'currently located', though particular schools may have changed Sections and others are no longer in existence and in many cases their current Section did not even exist in their years.

I would also like to thank John E Spalding for his many hours of research trying to locate missing names and marks for the athletes.
Russell, the CIF's official history, says there were four not three sections in the beginning. I've also enclosed the text of my introduction to Bay Area Sports Stars, which explains the Bay Area situation in a bit more detail.
Anyway, here are the starting dates for the sections of the CIF, which was formed in March, Football was governed in by the Amateur Academic Athletic Association. Other games and meets were arranged in a haphazard manner untilwhen competition around the bay was provided by the Academic Athletic League.
The AAL provided structured competition for boys in football, baseball, swimming, tennis and track and field. Basketball was added early in the 20th Century. A few schools offered less formal interscholastic competition for girls in baseball, basketball, swimming, tennis and volleyball.
Arcadia, however, is a much bigger stage and by far the biggest test for this group thus far. Considering the stage they were on, I am extremely proud of this group.
Carly was especially big on her leg. That time is also the 2nd best in school history and the winning race keeps the girls undefeated in head-to-head competition this season. She struggled all day but continued to battle. Today was a good day for her. Congratulations to all who competed.
Come out and support the Panthers! Inspired by the nifty Nike backpacks being awarded to the winners, the girls improved their seasonal best by almost 3 seconds. Anchorperson Chloe Jenkins, whose Earlier in the day, that same quartet also broke a 5 year old school record in the 4 x meter relay, running 9: Carly Schulz also hurdled to a PR of her own, running Congratulations to all the Panthers who competed this weekend.
Held at Arcadia High School near Pasadena, CAArcadia is widely regarded as the most competitive, talent-laden high school meet in the country… and a certainly a precursor to the California State Meet. Good luck to the Panthers this weekend! Who leads the team in each event? Are there any surprises?
CIF State Track and Field Championships - Meet Results
Has anyone cracked the top ten all-time list? For the boys, seniors Caleb Coleman and Austin Collier, along with junior Liam Godfrey provided a lot of the Panthers upfront firepower. Coleman, running in the shadows of the CAL campus he will call home over the next four years, won both the and meter dashes… the former in a hand-timed best of Collier, having been hampered by a nagging hip injury over the past several weeks, returned to his competition in fine form… scoring a pair of personal bests in his specialties the long and high jumps.
While Caleb and Austin were sprinting and jumping their way to top podium finishes, junior Liam Godfrey joined the act with a pair of decisive wins in the hurdle races.
After winning the meter race, Liam later stormed to a 2 second victory in his specialty, the meter race. Other notable performances were turned in by Patrick Mariolle 4: After leading the 4 x team to victory, she then cruised to victory in the hurdles, meter dash, and her specialty, the hurdles.
2013 Results - California CIF Outdoor State Championships
Some bystanders later claim to have heard her pleading with the starter to slow the pace of the meet in order to grab a few more minutes of oxygen. While Carly was piling up track points, several others won, not surprisingly, their event specialties. In all, the Panthers women did what the coaches had hoped for and expected. Bolstered by wins from junior Margaret English in the girls triple jump, Zoie Campbell in the frosh-soph girlsand record-setting performances by the frosh-soph girls sprint medley relay and sophomore Briahn Brown, the Panthers begin their quest for their initial TCAL league championship with a lot of momentum.
I hope it inspires some of the others to keep working.
Her performance truly was a masterpiece. Come out and support the Panthers as they open their league season! In all, over athletes from all over Northern California competed over the two days.
